Community Group Visits

Free guided gallery visits for community members of all ages can be requested for a minimum of 6 and a maximum of 30 people. Our galleries fill quickly with visits and programs. To ensure your group has space for an enjoyable visit, please let us know when you’d like to come by filling out the visit form. All scheduled visits begin with a short welcome and orientation to the museum.

Gallery Visit Options:

  • 5-minute introduction to the museum, followed by time on your own in the galleries: Meet a Weatherspoon staff member or a volunteer museum docent for a short welcome and orientation to the museum, followed by time to explore all the galleries on your own.
  • 15–20-minute in-depth exhibition introduction, followed by time on your own in the galleries: Meet a Weatherspoon staff member or a volunteer museum docent for a focused introduction to a current exhibition of your choice, followed by time to explore all the galleries on your own.
  • 60-minute guided session in the galleries: Participate in an interactive museum visit led by a Weatherspoon staff member or volunteer museum docent. Activities are based on close looking and conversation. All guided visits are 60 minutes long and led by a museum docent or Weatherspoon staff member.

A note for groups with youth participants
We strongly recommend the following chaperone-to-youths ratio based on recommendations from childcare.gov:

AgesChaperone: Youth Ratio
3 years old 2 adults: 7 youths
4–5 years old 2 adults: 8 youths
6–8 years old 2 adults: 10 youths
9–12 years old 2 adults: 12 youths
13–17 years old 2 adults: 14 youths

For the duration of your museum visit, please ensure that at least one chaperone always stays with youth participants. Thank you!
