Artist Talk: Morgan

Clarence “Morgan” Morgan is an American abstract painter whose work spans painting, drawing, printmaking, and an ongoing reflective writing practice. Rooted in gesture, intuition, and process, his work explores shifting relationships between order and improvisation. Through pattern, repetition, and fluid mark-making, he examines perceptual experience and the ways visual systems echo larger questions of time, space, and the natural and cosmic world. His parallel writing practice—composed of notes, essays, and studio reflections—further articulates the metaphysical and perceptual concerns that inform his visual work.

This fall, Morgan will be spending time on the UNCG campus as part of the School of Art’s Falk Visiting Artist Program, as well as presenting his work in the Weatherspoon’s Art on Paper exhibition.
