K-12 Students

Art & Writing Experience

Art + Writing Experiences (AWE) program offers the opportunity for close observation of modern and contemporary art and includes one or more writing activities. All ages. 75-90 minutes.

Focus on Visual Learning

Understanding and analyzing ideas and information through images—rather than text—is central to developing visual literacy skills. Artworks are selected to foster collaborative, discussion-based teaching and learning in the galleries. All ages. 50-90 minutes.

Learning to Look

Led by staff or trained docents, students explore the museum as they observe and interpret selective artworks. This tour is perfect for first-time visitors. All ages. 
50 minutes.

Workshops for Educators

Professional development workshops for K-12 teachers are offered two-three times each year. Participating teachers think creatively while meeting multiple NC K-12 Standards for Curriculum and Instruction and earning a certificate that can be submitted for CEUs with prior approval from their school system.  2019 Summer Education Workshop >
