EVENT CANCELED

We have made the difficult decision out of an abundance of caution and in consultation with local, state, and federal experts and authorities to cancel the 2020 Benefactors Choice, scheduled for Wednesday, April 1. While disappointing to all of us, this action is consistent with decisions being made around a number of community and university events in response to COVID-19 virus concerns. We are confident this is the right decision. Our highest priority remains the health and safety of our community.

Weatherspoon members at the $1,000 (Benefactors) and higher levels enjoy two invitations to the Museum's Annual Benefactors Choice event.

Benefactor funds are reserved throughout the year to be put toward the purchase of artwork(s) at the annual Benefactors Choice event. Works acquired become a part of the museum's permanent collection.

At this annual event, the Weatherspoon's director and curators present three pre-selected works of art, any of which would be a great addition to the museum's collection. Following these informative talks and some spirited discussion, the participants vote, and the work receiving the majority of votes is acquired.
