SUMMARY:Artist Talk: Raven Dial-Stanley
DESCRIPTION:An enrolled member of the Lumbee tribe and a UNCG alum, artist Raven Dial-Stanley works across creative disciplines to uplift Indigenous voices. After graduating with her degree in Consumer Apparel and Retail Studies, she worked as a denim designer for Lee before launching her own streetwear fashion brand, Original Peoples. As an advocate for Indigenous education, she serves as a program officer for the Advancing Indigenous Science and Engineering Society, expanding access to STEM experiences across North Carolina. As a graphic designer and illustrator, she published the Indigenous Coloring Book.\nInvited by the Weatherspoon’s Benjamin Faculty Fellows Emily Voelker and Tamra Hunt, Dial-Stanley will be spending time back on campus working with current students in their classes and sharing more about her multilayered creative practice.\nThis talk is supported by the UNCG School of Art’s Falk Visiting Artist Program and the College of Visual and Performing Arts.\n
